Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives responded to the 7500 block of Compton Avenue, unincorporated Los Angeles, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a male Hispanic adult on Friday, June 10, 2016 at approximately 3:47 p.m.

Homicide detectives have learned that the victim was riding his bike southbound on the sidewalk on Compton Avenue, when a man exited a white vehicle that was parked along the curb at the location. The suspect produced a handgun and opened fire striking the victim multiple times. The suspect got back into the vehicle and drove away southbound Compton Avenue to eastbound 76^th Street and out of view.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

There is no suspect information at this time.

The investigation is still ongoing.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
