National Night Out: August 2nd, 2016

On Tuesday, August 2nd 2016, neighborhoods throughout San Rafael are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the "33rd Annual National Night Out" (NNO) crime and drug prevention event. NNO 2016 corporate sponsors are ADT, Nextdoor.com, Associa.

This is San Rafael's fifth time participating in this event and looking forward to coming face to face with the community for one night of fun and festivities throughout our city. From 6:00pm-9:00pm on August 2nd, residents in neighborhoods throughout San Rafael and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights, and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. Many neighborhoods will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, parades, contests, youth activities and more. This is a night to send a powerful message about neighborhood unity, crime prevention awareness, safety, and police community partnerships. Let criminals know that San Rafael is united and dedicated to building a safer, more caring community.

If you want to hold an event, you must fill out the registration form including a detailed description of your activities (locations, time, schedule, number of people, activities, etc). You can access the form directly at www.srpd.org. If your plan includes closing a street, you will also need to submit a City Events and Parade permit form. You may also be requested to carry insurance if your activity includes any public property. The Police Department and Brian Auger, the City of San Rafael Event Coordinator, will review all the information you provide and may contact you regarding the planning for your event.

Please send your forms to Antonette Bullock, SRPD NNO Coordinator no later than July 18th 2016. For more information you can contact her at 415-485-3114 or email at [email protected]. We look forward to your participation in this event!
