FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On June 1, 2016 at approximately 7:45 PM, officers from the Angels Camp Police Department were dispatched to the area of Wilson Street and Bennett Street for multiple residents reporting the sound of 6 gun shots.
Officers arrived in the area and witnesses directed the officers to 32 year old Angels Camp resident, Daniel Scott who was walking in a nearby field. Scott was reported to be carrying a handgun on his hip and was walking toward the back yard of a nearby home.
As officers were responding to the home Scott was walking towards, dispatch received a report that Scott had jumped a nearby fence and was being detained in the yard of another home by the residents.
Officers responded to the residence where Scott was being detained and took him in to custody. Scott was in possession of a .357 magnum and ammunition at the time of his arrest.
Scott was arrested and booked in to the Calaveras County Jail for the following charges:
246.3(a) PC- Negligent Discharge of Firearm
148(a)(1)PC- Resisting/Obstructing a Peace Officer
647(f) PC- Public Intoxication
