Deputies conduct a PC 290 Sexual Registrant Compliance Check Operation

INCIDENT: PC 290 Sexual Registrant Compliance Check
LOCATION: County area of Barstow
SUMMARY:
On May 30, 2016, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., deputies from the Barstow Sheriff’s Station participated in a County wide compliance check for sexual registrants. During the check, 28 PC290 sexual registrant compliance checks were conducted. Two PC290 registrants were found to be out of compliance. One registrant already has an active warrant in the system for noncompliance and will be arrested upon contact. The second registrant is currently out of State; a warrant for his arrest will be requested.
During the operation, deputies recognized a subject who is wanted for vehicle theft out of the Barstow area. The suspect ran from deputies while jumping multiple fences and running through several backyards. After an extensive search of the area, the suspect was able to evade apprehension but deputies were able to identify the suspect and are currently working on locating him.
The county area of Barstow currently has 97 PC 290 registrants living in the area. The majority of the registrants were found to be in compliance. Through further investigation the Barstow Station is working on gaining a one hundred percent registration compliance.
