RPD Community Advisory/Burglary Arrest-

Riverside Residents-

Recently, we sent out an alert about a burglary that had taken place on the 100-block of North Cowley Road. This was an unusual case as an offender went into the home via a small window after 12:30 a.m. and burglarized it while the family was sleeping. As you can imagine, this is a very unsettling crime for both the family and the community.

I assigned my detectives to work this case nonstop until all evidence and/or leads were exhausted. RPD detectives have made an arrest in this case. On Friday afternoon, Riverside detectives working along with the Major Case Assistance Team (MCAT) arrested a 23-year-old male who had been living in Oak Park. He had just moved to Chicago within the last 30 days.

We were able to trace some of the stolen property from Illinois to San Diego, California as well as collecting fingerprint and DNA evidence from the burglary scene.

The offender was arrested at 5:00 p.m. Friday without incident as he was playing basketball at the XSport Fitness Facility in Norridge, Illinois.

This individual is also a suspect in burglaries in several other west suburban communities.

Riverside Police have recovered some of the stolen property from a processing facility in San Diego.

This notice is being sent as a police public safety advisory to keep the community informed about incidents of significance that affect our residents.
