HMPD Detectives arrest two for vehicle break-ins.

During the week of May 21, 2016, Hope Mills Officers responded to several locations throughout the city in reference to vehicle break-ins. Being that the suspects had departed the area upon the arrival of Officers, the cases were forwarded to the Hope Mills Police Department Detective Division for follow-up investigation. During the course of the investigation into the vehicle break-ins, Detectives developed information that Robert Mitchums Rhooms, 23, of the 5500 block of Dalstrom Lane, Hope Mills and, Secoyia Desirae James, 20, of the same address, were responsible for the vehicle break-ins. On the afternoon of Tuesday, May 24, 2016, Detectives executed a search warrant at Mr. Rhooms’ residence. While conducting the search, Detectives located a considerable amount of property which belonged to the vehicle break-in victims. Detectives arrested Mr. Rhooms and Ms. James and transported them to the Cumberland County Detention Center where they were jailed for the following charges:

Robert Mitchums Rhooms $15,000.00 bond

3 Counts of Felony Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle
3 Counts of Misdemeanor Larceny
3 Counts of Possession of Stolen Goods

Secoyia Desirae James $20,000.00 bond

3 Counts of Felony Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle
1 Count of Felony Larceny of a Firearm
2 Counts of Misdemeanor Larceny

This investigation is ongoing and more charges and arrests are likely.
