In 2009 the Cleona Borough Police Department started using the Nixle service which is a communication system that connects residents with the police department. Residents can use Nixle to receive information ranging from critical alerts to community news and events.
Additionally, residents can choose how they receive this information – by SMS (text message), email, over the Web or by mobile application. Users can also select to receive messages from other local organizations and Police Departments in the area.
