The Green Bay Police Department has noticed a crime pattern of thefts from vehicles in the area of 1800 block of 11th Ave in the Cities west side. Victims have reported that their cars have been broken into during the hours of darkness. Community Service Interns were in the neighborhood on May 18th distributing crime alert flyers with crime prevention tips on how to protect property from being stolen.
This morning (May 19, 2016), Officers were on directed patrol in this area for the sole purpose of locating suspicious activity. In the investigation, officers arrested two suspects identified as Michael A Porto, a 19 year old Green Bay resident, and Danny A Wetzel a 19 year old Green Bay resident for theft-moveable property, entry to a locked vehicle, and other related charges.
Officers have recovered some property from the suspects. Officers and Detectives continue to investigate the thefts in order to return the property to the owner, and possibly try to link the suspects to other thefts in the area.
