The Norton Shores Police Department is currently assisting the Muskegon County Sheriff’s office and the Michigan State Police on an attempt abduction case that occurred in April on West River road. Norton Shores Police routinely works together with other Muskegon County Law Enforcement agencies on a major crimes task force team. There have been many phone calls and questions whether this case could be related to the Jessica Heeringa case. Detectives from Norton Shores Police are looking for any possible connections to our open investigation as they have worked with detectives in other similar cases throughout Michigan over the past three years. If the Detectives are able to link the cases we will advise the media and family members immediately. At this point there is no direct link to the Heeringa case. Until there is evidence to link the two cases, this is a Muskegon County Sheriff’s investigation.
