Auto Burglary-400 Block of Kearney Street
An officer reported an unknown suspect unlocked the lockbox of victim’s pick-up truck and removed power tools. The theft occurred in between 4/30@2000 and 5/2@0645 hours.
Vandalism-1300 Block of Scott Street.
At approximately 1341 hours, an officer reported an unknown suspect drilled a small hole into the trunk of a tree sometime during the past 30 days. This caused the tree to be in distress.
Stolen Vehicle-11450 San Pablo Avenue
An officer reported an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 2014 Nissan Altima. The theft occurred in between 1500-1512 hours.
Shoplifting, Public Intoxication – CVS, 670 El Cerrito Plaza
At 1716 hours, an officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 58-year-old transient man after he stole merchandise from CVS. The man was also severely intoxicated and could not care for himself. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Mental Health Evaluation – Macaroni Grill, 8000 El Cerrito Plaza
At 2118 hours, an officer was flagged down regarding a 53-year old male who asked a security guard to shoot him. Officers determined the man was a danger to himself and others. He was committed for a 72-hour psychiatric evaluation and transported the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center.
Possession of Controlled Substance - San Pablo Ave/Conlon Ave
At 2141 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 33-year old Richmond man for possession of methamphetamine. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released.
Possession of Controlled Substance – 1900 Block of Key Blvd.
At 2238 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 46-year old El Cerrito woman for possession of methamphetamine. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released.
Possession of Controlled Substance – Kearney St/Cutting Blvd.
At 0048 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 58-year old San Francisco man for possession of methamphetamine. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released.
Delay/obstruct Peace Officer, Driving Without a Driver License – Carlson Blvd/San Diego St.
At 0149 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested a 49-year old Palm Springs man after he failed to identify himself and was driving without a license. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released.
May 3rd
Strong Arm Robbery-Liberty Street/Potrero Avenue
An officer reported on 5/1@2330 hours, the victim was walking home when suspect #1 took her purse after pushing her to the ground. Suspect #1 and Suspect#2 were last seen running towards the Del Norte BART station after the robbery.
Strong Arm Robbery-11450 San Pablo Avenue
At 0855 hours, an officer reported two Safeway employees noticed the suspect concealing items underneath his jacket. The employees confronted the suspect about the theft and the suspect began pushing one of the employees. While on the ground fighting with the employee, the suspect picked up some merchandise and fled the store.
In-Custody Shoplifter/ Warrant Arrest 11794 San Pablo Avenue
At 1630 hours, an officer was dispatched to Marshall’s for an in custody shoplifter. A 37-year-old male from Richmond was detained by store security after leaving the store with unpaid merchandise. During a records check, the officer discovered the male had an active warrant. The male was transported to the El Cerrito Police Department for booking. After booking, the male was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Arson, Possession of a Controlled Substance – 11785 San Pablo Ave
At 1825 hours, officers were dispatched to the address after the El Cerrito Fire Department extinguished a fire. The suspect, a 39-year-old transient man was still on scene when they arrived. Officers arrested the man and booked him at the El Cerrito Police Department. During booking, officers located methamphetamine in his possession. After booking, the man was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Shoplifting – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza.
At 2105 hours, an officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 60-year old transient male after he stole merchandise from the business. The man was cited at the business and released.
May 4th
Stolen Vehicle- 1700 Block of Eastshore Boulevard
An officer reported an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 2003 Honda Metre scooter. The theft occurred on 5/3 between 0900-1800 hours.
Stolen Vehicle-11299 San Pablo Avenue
An officer reported an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 2015 Chrysler 300s. The theft occurred on 5/3 in between 1030-1945 hours.
Warrant Arrest-11794 San Pablo Avenue.
At 1225 hours, an officer was dispatched to an occupied suspicious vehicle detail at the Marshall’s parking lot. Upon arrival, the officer contacted a 35 year old female from Pinole and discovered she had an active warrant out of Santa Clara County. The female was issued a citation and released.
In-Custody Shoplifter-11450 San Pablo Avenue
At 1625 hours, an officer responded to Safeway and accepted the Citizen’s Arrest of a 21 year old male from Richmond. The male was detained by loss prevention agents after leaving the store with unpaid merchandise. The male was transported to the El Cerrito Police Department for booking and released on a citation.
Warrant Arrest – 10900 San Pablo Ave.
At 1827 hours, an officer arrested a 21-year old Richmond woman for two outstanding warrants. The woman was booked and released.
Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave. / Eastshore Blvd.
At 1835 hours, officers were dispatched to a man down at the intersection. An officer contacted a 55-year old transient man and learned he had an outstanding warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released.
Mental Health Evaluation – San Pablo Ave. / Lincoln Ave.
At 2109 hours, Officers were dispatched to a call about a female yelling at passerby’s and herself. An officer located a 33-year old transient woman who was making incoherent statements and was determined to be a danger to herself. The woman was committed for a 72-hour mental health evaluation and transported to the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center.
Possession of a Controlled Substance – 10602 San Pablo Ave.
At 2207 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 53-year old Richmond woman for possession of methamphetamine. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released.
Located runaway juveniles – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza.
At 0312 hours, an officer conducted a suspicious vehicle check and located two 16-year old males. Both males were reported as runaways to Oklahoma City Police on 5/1/16. Both parents were notified and CPS responded to take custody of the juveniles.
Under the Influence of Controlled Substance, Possession of Burglary Tools – San Pablo Ave. / Manila Ave.
At 0312 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested 41-year old El Sobrante man for being under the influence of methamphetamine. During the search of the man’s person, the officer located several shaved keys and key fobs for various makes of vehicles. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released.
May 5th
Residential burglary – 1600 block of Arlington Blvd.
Between 0830 and 1754 hours, an unknown suspect entered the victim’s residence and vandalized several areas of the house.
Mental health evaluation – BART Path / Central Ave.
At 1953 hours, officers were dispatched to the area for a man walking in and out of traffic, yelling at himself and citizens. The man was determined to be a danger to himself and was committed for a 72-hour mental health evaluation. The man was transported to the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center.
Public intoxication – 11299 San Pablo Ave.
At 2000 hours, an officer contacted a 38-year-old transient man and found that he was extremely intoxicated and unable to care for himself. The man was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Domestic battery – 233 El Cerrito Plaza
At 2030 hours, officers were flagged down in the rear parking lot of the police department. The victim reported her boyfriend of two months struck her in the head and choked her. The suspect is a 28-year-old Richmond man. Attempts to locate the man were unsuccessful.
Armed robbery – 11645 San Pablo Ave.
At 0132 hours, officers were dispatched to the Freeway Motel for a robbery that just occurred. The victim stated he arranged to meet with a female companion at the motel. When she arrived, she also brought along an unknown suspect. The suspect confronted the victim, pistol whipped him, and stole the victim’s belongings. The suspect is described as a black male adult, 6’2, 200 lbs., driving a dark SUV.
Driving under the influence – 11344 San Pablo Ave.
At 0224 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 28-year-old San Francisco man for driving under the influence of alcohol.
