2016 Amgen Tour of California Returns to Folsom May 20 Traffic, Parking and Festival Plans Announced
America’s largest cycling race, the Amgen Tour of California, presented by AEG, will bring the excitement of professional cycling to Folsom on Friday, May 20.
Folsom will host the men’s Stage 6, an individual time trial, and the women’s Stage 2, a team time trial. Folsom’s approximately 12-mile course will feature some of the city’s distinctive landmarks and natural amenities as riders start and finish in the Historic District, and travel over the Rainbow Bridge and Folsom Lake Crossing.
"Folsom joined the Amgen Tour of California as a host city for the first time in 2014, and we're thrilled to be returning for another world-class time trial in front of enthusiastic fans and in a beautiful setting. In addition to the men's individual time trial, fans are in for a whole day of excitement with a women's team time trial on tap as well, a first for our race," said Kristin Klein, president of the Amgen Tour of California and executive vice president of AEG Sports.
“The City of Folsom is incredibly proud to host the 2016 Amgen Tour of California. This signature event attracts top cyclists from around the world and brings national and international awareness to Folsom’s world-class cycling routes, iconic landmarks and distinctive scenery,” said Mayor Steve Miklos. “The City, our partners and avid cycling community look forward to welcoming competitors and spectators to Folsom, where the local community passionately embraces and supports cycling.”
