Crime Alert and Community Update Bulletin

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Monday, 05-02-16 at 2:50 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 900 block of St. Francis Boulevard on a report of a Hispanic male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt who attempted to sell the reporting party marijuana and/or pills. Officers saw a subject matching the description who was walking between cars in the carports and ducking. Officers stopped the subject, and the subject tried to flee from them. The subject smelled of marijuana, and officers determined he was on probation for robbery and had a search clause. Officers searched the subject and found a bottle of Xanax pills as well as marijuana on his person. The subject, a 20-year old Pacifica resident, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of marijuana for sales, destroying evidence and resisting arrest.

On Wednesday, 05-04-16 officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the area of San Fernando Way and Santa Paula Drive. The driver, a 37-year old San Mateo resident, had a suspended license and had methamphetamine in his possession and was arrested. The passenger, a 30-year old Redwood City resident, was cited for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Thursday, 05-05-16 at 7:42 a.m., Officer Ortiz and Officer Newton were dispatched to the area of Bellevue Avenue and Crocker Avenue on a report of a person who was running in and out of traffic. Officers arrived to the scene and observed the subject walking in and out of traffic. Dispatchers advised that the subject had been arrested multiple times for drug related charges. The officers observed behavior indicative to being under the influence, and they performed field sobriety tests on the subject. The subject, a 28-year transient, was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

On Sunday, 05-08-16 at 8:48 a.m., Officer Williams and Officer Ortega were dispatched to the unit block of Mission Circle on the report of a male subject “acting crazy”, throwing trash from a trash can, grabbing onto the stair railing of a residence and trying to stop vehicles driving down the street. The subject, a 36-year old transient, was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Nextdoor.com

This is a free private social network for you, your neighbors and your community which allows you to talk to your neighbors on line. This, in turn, People use Nextdoor for many reasons: to quickly get the word out about crimes in the area, organize a Neighborhood Watch Group, track down a trustworthy babysitter, find referrals for businesses, looking for lost pets, finding new homes for unwanted items (furniture, bicycles, etc.), and many other reasons. It is very easy to sign up, and I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t actually live there. There is a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your email. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
