Police Open Data Portal Goes Live 
The Berkeley Police Department’s Support Services Division in collaboration with the City of Berkeley’s IT Department recently completed their conversion of the hand written jail logs to an online version. This open data portal will offer greater transparency by allowing members of the community the ability to look at both arrest and booking data over a 30 day period.
The portal differentiates between arrests and bookings. The "arrest" portion of the portal provides information for adults arrested by the Berkeley Police Department (exclusively) while "bookings" may include any law enforcement agency utilizing the Berkeley Jail (not exclusive to the Berkeley Police Department). Arrests include both felonies and misdemeanors and address those persons booked into the jail facility and those cited and released with a future court date.
The data for both logs are updated each business day (Monday through Friday, excluding holidays) at 9:00 am. At this time, the arrest location, arrest city, arrest latitude and arrest longitude are not available. We are working with our vendor so this data can be provided at a later date.
