Havasu Lake, CA - Injury Boat Collision

INCIDENT: Injury Boat Accident
LOCATION: 1/2 mile south of the Havasu Landing Casino, Havasu Lake
SUSPECT: Amanda Zaritsky, age 21 of Fawnskin, CA
VICTIM: Blake Gordon, age 24 of Fawnskin, CA
SUMMARY: On May 7, 2016, at approximately 2:15 p.m., deputies from the Marine Enforcement Unit from the Colorado River Station/Needles Police responded to the report of an injury boat collision. Deputies were advised that Blake Gordon and Amanda Zaritsky were each operating personal watercraft on Lake Havasu approximately a half mile south of the Havasu Landing casino. Gordon stopped in a cove near the California shore while watching Zaritsky operate her personal watercraft. Zaritsky approached Gordon at a high rate of speed in an attempt to splash Gordon. Zaritsky under estimated the speed and distance between the two skis and struck Gordon. Zaritsky and Gordon were ejected from their personal watercraft. Gordon was assisted onto a pontoon boat that took him to the Windsor Beach launch ramp and was then transported to Havasu Regional Medical Center.
Gordon suffered major injuries as a result of the collision. Zaritsky was interviewed at Havasu Regional Medical Center where it was determined that alcohol and operator negligence are believed to be contributing factors to the collision.
