OSBI Agents Investigate Officer-Involved Shooting in McCurtain Co.

Friday evening a McCurtain County sheriff's deputy was shot when he and an Oklahoma Game Warden approached Charles Dwane Brown's rural Broken Bow home. The deputy went to the home to speak with Brown about an unrelated criminal case. The warden assisted as backup. When the deputy approached Brown, Brown went inside his home, retrieved a rifle, and shot the deputy one time. The deputy was able to fire his weapon before Brown ran from the scene. The deputy was flown to a Texarkana,Texas, hospital with a gun shot wound to his abdomen. He is in stable condition. Brown (d.o.b. 9/12/1973) turned himself in the law enforcement a short time later. Brown was wounded in the left arm during the shooting. The game warden did not fire his weapon and was not injured. The McCurtain County Sheriff's Department requested OSBI agents investigate the case.
