Saturday, 4/30, 10 am - 2 pm, #WeHoSheriff asks for your unused/expired prescription drugs.
Saturday, April 30th, from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, West Hollywood Sheriff asks for your unused or expired prescription drugs.
In an effort to stop drug abuse and potentially contaminating waterways, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency will hold its Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 30. Joining in this effort, the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station will take unused or expired prescription drugs at their three disposal bins located in the front parking lot.
More than 6.5 million people in the U.S. abuse prescription drugs, according to the DEA, and overdoses are now the leading cause of injury-related deaths. In the past five years, the DEA has destroyed more than 5.5. million pounds of unused prescription drugs.
Flushing drugs down the toilet contaminates waterways, even affecting how fish, frogs, waterfowl and other animals develop and behave. Some of the drugs, once dissolved, end back up in drinking water, unable to be filtered out by sewage treatment plants.
