2 cousins arrested for attempted murder after stabbing a subject during an altercation in a Covina parking lot.

On April 23, 2016 at approximately 2:10 AM, Covina Police Officers were dispatched to a call for service regarding three subjects involved in a physical altercation in the parking lot of 7-11 Convenience Store located at 105 N. Vincent in the City of Covina. When officers arrived, they located a 27-year-old male subject who was suffering from stab wounds to his shoulder and abdomen. Witnesses at the scene indicated the two subjects the victim was fighting with ran southbound on Vincent into a residential area located in the City of West Covina. The victim was treated at the scene by Paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department and was transported to a trauma center for treatment.

While Covina officers were investigating the stabbing, West Covina Police Officers were dispatched to a possible prowler in the backyard of a residence near 7-11. West Covina Officers responded and detained two subjects who were hiding in the backyard of a residence and it was determined the two subjects were in fact involved in the altercation with the victim in the 7-11 parking lot. Both of the subjects were positively identified and arrested by Covina Police Officers for 664/187 PC-Attempted Murder.

The victim’s medical condition is unknown at this time; however, his injuries are believed to be life threatening.

Victim is a 27-year-old male adult (No further information on the victim will be provided)

Suspect #1 – Eric Melendez (21-year-old resident of Pasadena)
Suspect #2 – Manuel Melendez (19-year-old resident of West Covina)

Both suspects are being held on $2,000,000 bail at the Covina Police Department pending their arraignment at Citrus Superior Court on April 26, 2016.
