Hope Mills Litter Sweep and Shred/Hazardous Waste Collection Event Saturday April 23. 
The Town of Hope Mills will be hosting it's annual 'Litter Sweep' on Saturday, April 23, 2016. Registration to participate in the Litter Sweep will begin at the Parks and Rec Building at 8:30 am with the clean-up beginning at 9:00 am. Gloves and trash bags will be provided to the participants.
Also, from 9:00 am to 1:00pm, residents are encouraged to bring their household hazardous waste to the parking lot between the Hope Mills Town Hall and the Police Department. Below you will find a list of the types of waste which will be accepted. This event is for Hope Mills residents only. No contractors.
Beginning at 1:00pm and, until 5:00pm, residents can participate in the 'Shred Event' by bringing paper products to the rear parking lot of the Hope Mills Town Hall where a shredder truck will be standing by to take your paper products. Again, this event is open only to Hope Mills residents.

• Insecticides, weed killers, poisons

• Propane cylinders
• Swimming pool chemicals
• Wood preservatives
From your house:
• Aerosol cans
• Cleaners, spot removers
• Computers, electronic equipment
• Hearing aid (button-style) batteries
• Ni-Cad batteries
• Photo chemicals, chemistry sets
WHAT NOT TO BRING…
• Ammunition, fireworks, explosives
• Infectious and biological waste
• Syringes
• Radioactive waste
• Unknown compressed gas cylinders
TO ENSURE SAFETY…
• NEVER MIX CHEMICALS
• NEVER SMOKE while handling
hazardous materials
• Do not place waste in plastic garbage bags
• Tighten caps and lids leaving material in
original labeled containers
• Sort and pack paint, pesticides and
household cleaners separately
• Pack containers in sturdy upright boxes
and pad with newspaper
• Pack your vehicle and go directly
to the site
