Police Seek Community's Help in Indentifying Shooting Suspect

On 4/14/16 at approximately 3:35am Berkeley Police Dispatch received a report of shots fired on the 2100 block of Kittredge Street. Officers responded to the scene and made contact with the intended target of the shooting, a 39 year old homeless man, who was not hit or injured by the gunfire. The victim said he was standing in front of 2165 Kittredge Street when the suspect, who was standing in the parking lot near the gas pumps of Touchless Carwash, began shooting at him.

There were a number of bullet impacts found on the facade of 2165 Kittredge Street. From video surveillance and witness statements the suspect is described as a black or dark skinned male, 6’0' to 6’03”,thin build, wearing a black t-shirt with a design on the front, chain around his neck, dark colored “bucket” hat, tan pants, and white shoes. Following the shooting, the suspect fled south on Fulton Street and west on Bancroft Way. The suspect is currently unidentified and the weapon also remains outstanding.

In the attached video there is a pedestrian who is walking past the car wash at the time of the shooting. The Berkeley Police Department would like to talk to this person about what they observed. If you are this witness or know anything about what transpired, or recognize the suspect, please notify us at (510) 981-5741 or via email at [email protected]
