On April 11. 2016 just after 8:00PM officers were dispatched to the area of Chittenden and Sherman Avenues for a possible victim of a gunshot. When officers arrived they learned that a male subject, later identified as 39 year old Gustavo Ortega, had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and the vehicle he was driving came to rest in the front yard of a house in the 1300 block of Chittenden Avenue. Officers initiated CPR until paramedics arrived however, lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful. Some information given to the investigators was that there had been a shooting in the area of Bainum Ave. near Chittenden Ave. Officers are trying to determine if that was in fact where Ortega was shot. A vehicle reportedly involved in that incident was described as a dark colored passenger car. Corcoran Investigators along with Kings County Gang Task Force Investigators have conducted numerous interviews and are following up on several
