On Monday, April 4, 2016, the Cloquet Police Department received an anonymous threat through social media detailing a bomb threat at the Carlton County Sheriff’s Department in Carlton, Minnesota. Cloquet Police investigated the incident and was able to identify an 18-year-old Cloquet woman as the suspect.
On Wednesday, April 6, 2016, during the investigation, the suspect was located at the Carlton County Courthouse where she was taken into custody. The woman confessed to making the threat and also admitted to recently sending threats to other law enforcement agencies including the Aitkin County Sheriff’s Department, Superior Police Department, and an establishment in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
No explosive device was located, and it is believed that the suspect did not actually have a device. The woman was lodged at the Carlton County Jail on charges of felony Threats of Violence.
