For Immediate Release Tuesday, April 05, 2016 11:31 AM

Case Number: N/A Contact: Sgt. Jeff Justice (707)588-3574 Mon-Thu 8am-6pm Cmdr. Pat Strouse (707)584-2646 Mon-Thu 8-5 (PIO)

ROHNERT PARK, CA – On the evening of 04/04/16, the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety was notified that high-risk sex offender Jonathan Michael Hoppner was placed in a motel in Rohnert Park today after being released on Parole. Rohnert Park Public Safety immediately contacted the management at the motel to ensure they were aware of Hoppner, as part of the safety notification regarding the risk to the public. The motel management advised they were not aware Hoppner was staying at their motel and he had not been registered as a guest there. They stated they would follow-up on Hoppner staying at the motel as an unregistered guest, and later advised that Hoppner had been removed from the motel since he was not a registered guest there. On the morning of 04/05/16, Rohnert Park Public Safety confirmed with State Parole that Hoppner had been moved out of Rohnert Park the night before and a new location in a rural area was going to be looked for to place Hoppner. Rohnert Park Public Safety was not advised of any incidents involving Hoppner while he was in our city. This information is being released pursuant to Megan's Law, Penal Code Section 290. It is illegal to use this information to commit a crime against any sex registrant or to engage in illegal discrimination or harassment against any sex registrant. Additional information about high-risk sex offenders is available at www.meganslaw.ca.gov. END.
