Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a female adult that occurred in the 5200 block of Pendleton Avenue, South Gate, at approximately 7:08 p.m.

Officers responded to the location regarding a spousal assault call. Upon their arrival, officers found a female adult and a six month-old infant suffering from multiple stab wounds

Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The female adult victim later succumbed to her wounds and was pronounced dead. The infant child is in listed in stable condition.

During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the suspect is the father of the infant child. A verbal argument between the suspect and the female adult victim escalated into a physical confrontation. The suspect produced a knife at which time there was a struggle for the knife. Both the female adult and the infant child were stabbed multiple time.

The suspect was detained a short time later several blocks away from the location. The suspect was arrested and booked for murder at the South Gate Police Department.

The investigation is on-going.

NARRATIVE:

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives are en route to 5200 block of Pendleton Avenue, South Gate, to assist South Gate Police Department to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a female adult.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
