Two Fires at the Same Time In North Codorus Twp.

Two fires at the same times kept fire and police scrambling on Tuesday afternoon, 03.29.16.

Both of the North Codorus Twp. fires were not related in any way. The first was reported at 5:35 PM in the 3000 blk of Mackenzie Lane. A police officer and a firefighter, who lived nearby, responded and found heavy smoke coming from the home. The personnel located the source of the fire with the homeowner and found that it originated by the stove in the kitchen. Both police and fire used several fire extinguishers from their vehicles to slow the flames until fire equipment arrived. Both are credited for acting quickly and preventing greater damage. No injuries occurred.

At about the same times, fire and police responded to a large tractor that was engulfed in flames; just off of the roadway in the 2200 blk of Stoverstown Rd. The owner had just left the piece of equipment after it was being used. Upon his return a short time later is when he discovered it in flames. It is believed at this point that the cause was simply a malfunction of the equipment. The equipment was a total loss. No injuries occurred to the firefighters or the owner.

North Codorus Fire personnel were assisted by a several other area fire companies.
