INCIDENT: Burglary

LOCATION: 25000 Block Jasper Road, Barstow, Ca 92311

SUSPECT: Herbert Bailey, 40 years old and a resident of Barstow

SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, March 23, 2016, Deputy Bennington from the Barstow Station responded to the 25000 block of Jasper Road, in the County area of Barstow, in reference to a residential burglary report.

Through investigation, Bennington learned the victim's rental home had been broken into the night before and a witness was located with suspect information. The witness, a paid contractor for the victim, received a telephone call the previous day from the victim's neighbor stating that someone was in the process of breaking into the rental home at that moment. The witness, who lives a short distance away, drove to the incident location and noticed the front glass window had been broken. The witness saw a black male, later identified as Bailey, standing inside the house just behind the broken window. The witness opened the front door to the house and observed Bailey breaking a bedroom window then escape through the window to the backyard and run to a nearby house.

While Deputy Bennington was interviewing the witness, Bailey walked back to the incident location. The witness positively identified Bailey as being the same subject inside the house the night before. Bennington searched the victim's yard and located a bag of methamphetamine on the ground just below the back bedroom window where Bailey escaped.

Bailey was arrested for Burglary and booked into the Barstow jail. Bail was set at $25,000.00
