Incident at Bus Stop on 3/22/16
Residents of Upper Macungie Township,
This morning at 6:50 AM, the Upper Macungie Township Police Department (UMTPD) responded to a report of a suspicious person dressed in a costume consisting of a dark cloak, mask and a fake knife. The person was at a school bus-stop occupied by high school aged students at Cascade & Brookdale Roads. The costume was reported to be similar to the character in the movie “Scream”.
Upon arrival of our officers, the suspicious person at the bus stop had departed. A witness followed the person to their residence and the person was identified and interviewed by the UMTPD. The person involved related that they were committing a prank against a student on the bus.
This incident was captured on a Parkland School District school-bus camera system and is being investigated as a criminal matter.
It goes without saying that the UMTPD is fully committed to the protection of our citizens. Acts such as this are dangerous, serve no legitimate purpose and will not be tolerated.
Please be assured that this is an isolated incident and the safety and security of our residents has not been compromised.
Sincerely,
Edgardo A. Colón
Chief of Police
