Remembering Carson Station Deputy Mike Lavieri, killed in the line of duty on March 19, 1983. Carson Station personnel remember Deputy Lavieri on the anniversary of his line of duty death by wearing long sleeve uniforms with a tie and holding briefings at the station's monument.
On March 19, 1983, Deputy Lavieri was shot and killed when he responded to a gas station to investigate a suspicious person. Deputy Lavieri located the suspicious person in a car. During his questioning, the suspect opened fire wounding his partner. Deputy Lavieri chased the suspect into a home where additional shots were fired at him. Deputy Lavieri was struck in the face and succumbed to his injuries at Harbor-UCLA hospital.
