Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives responded to California State Prison, Los Angeles County, 44750 60th Street West, Lancaster to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a man.

Detectives have learned that prison guards were alerted by an inmate that another inmate in a different cell was possibly unconscious.  When the guards checked they found 33-year-old, Inmate Gordon Rowell, unresponsive in his cell.  Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics were called and pronounced Inmate Rowell dead at the scene at approximately 9:44 AM.

The death is being investigated as suspicious pending the outcome of an autopsy that will be conducted by Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner personnel.
