St. Patrick’s Day DUI Saturation Results
Chula Vista - Officers from the Chula Vista Police Department conducted a DUI Saturation Patrol on St. Patrick’s Day, Thursday March 17th, 2016 between the hours of 7 PM and 2 AM within the City of Chula Vista.
DUI Saturation Patrol operations concentrate on locating impaired drivers that are under the influence of alcohol/drugs while operating a motor vehicle.
During this operation, 64 traffic stops were conducted for failure to stop for a stop sign, red light violation, unsafe speed and several other vehicle code violations. Two drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. An additional 53 citations were issued to drivers with 3 vehicles being towed due to the drivers having a suspended license.
This was the third of four scheduled DUI Saturation Patrols to be conducted in March and it was considered a successful operation. The Chula Vista Police Department is continuing its efforts to keep our community safe by encouraging drivers to follow the rules of the road.
Funding for this operation was provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
