Hang up, call people you know using numbers in your personal telephone list and verify if a loved one needs your help. Don’t rush verify everything. If you hear any of the following it may be a Scam.
Hello Grandma, / Aunt, it’s me. I need Help / I got in an Accident / I got arrested / I need medical care. Hurry! Don’t tell mom. Let me put Officer / Detective / Doctor on the phone. Go to the store and buy a Gift card / Money card / Wire transfer. Tell the store the card is for a gift.
Hurry / Rush / How long will it Take? Please don’t tell my parents. I am not Home / I am at school / I am traveling. Give me the number from the receipt or back of the card. Hurry.

Remember that there is no need to rush, if the caller has time to make a telephone call they are likely in a safe location. Doctors will not withhold lifesaving care to a person in need.
