Sheriff’s Department Collecting Food for Local Distribution
Los Angeles County is home to one of the largest populations of any county in the nation. We are also home to one of the largest populations of hunger. An estimated 1.4 million people in Los Angeles County live with food insecurity, which means that approximately 16% of those who live here do not know where their next meal is coming from.
The Palmdale and Lancaster Sheriff’s Stations are hosting a Food Drive. This annual event is held in honor of Cesar Chavez Week and supports the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. The Food Bank distributes food throughout Los Angeles County and has numerous distribution points within the Antelope Valley.
We are seeking the public’s help in supporting this worthy cause which benefits our local community. Non-perishable food products, like canned foods and meats, peanut butter, Jelly, pasta, and rice can all be dropped off at the local Sheriff Stations in Palmdale or Lancaster. Each station will have a bin for receiving food donations in the front lobby, which is open 24 hours a day.
The public may also donate on-line at www.LAFoodBank.com. All donations will be accepted through March 30, 2016.
