Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives Seek Public’s Help in Identifying
Suspect(s) Responsible for the Murder of Mother and Son;
$25,000 Reward Offered by City of Carson
Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives stood united on Friday morning, March 4, 2016, with City of Carson Mayor Alberto Robles, Mayor Pro-Tem Lula Davis-Holmes, city councilmembers Jawane Hilton, Elito Santarina, and family members of shooting victims Michele Kelly-Love and her son, Jordan Love, inside Carson City Hall. Together, they presented a $25,000 reward offered by the City of Carson for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the shooting death of the mother and her son.
It was minutes before midnight on Saturday, February 28, 2016, when 54-year-old Michele Kelly-Love pulled her car up in front of Jordan’s house, in the 19500 block of Tillman Avenue, Carson. As Michele sat in the car with Jordan, 27 years old and a third person, a dark-colored sedan approached and numerous gunshots were fired from within at the victims’ vehicle.
Both mother and son sustained gunshot wounds to their upper torsos, and both lives were lost at the scene. The other passenger, a female adult, was not injured.
The suspect’s vehicle fled northbound on Tillman Avenue and out of view.
Michele Kelly-Love was the mother of three children and Jordan Love, the father of a young daughter. The Love family has no gang affiliation, making motive for the shooting unclear.
Homicide detectives have exhausted all leads of the investigation and are seeking any information about the double murder from the public. Carson councilmembers approved a $25,000 reward to encourage witnesses to come forward with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible.
If you have any information about the suspect(s) or the dark-colored sedan, please contact Homicide Bureau Detective Steven Blagg or Sergeant Guillermo Morales at 323-890-5500.
