Sheriff Volunteers Locate Missing Person!

On Tuesday, March 1, 2016, Lancaster Sheriff’s Station deputies were dispatched to a missing person call in the City of Lancaster. The reporting party (missing person’s wife) stated her husband had left home in his vehicle at approximately 1:00 P.M. He had not returned home for hours before she left to report him missing. She stated, in the past, he has never left home for hours on end without letting her know his whereabouts. He also has an array of health issues and requires an oxygen tank to breathe.

Due to the missing persons’ medical issues coupled with his strange behavior, the deputies requested additional personnel to immediately start searching for him. Two Lancaster Sheriff’s Station Civilian Volunteers who were conducting patrol in the City of Lancaster, contacted the handling deputies and volunteered to help search for the missing person. The civilian volunteers on patrol responded to the commercial area of Valley Central Way and were able to locate the missing person asleep in his vehicle in the parking lot of Wal-Mart. The volunteers immediately notified the handling deputies who assisted the missing person home to his wife.

One of the Sheriff Civilian Volunteers said this is why he had joined the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Civilian Volunteers; to give back to the community in which we all live in.

If you are interested in joining the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Civilian Volunteers for Lancaster or Palmdale Sheriff’s Stations, the Volunteer Academy is starting in the beginning of April and information will be released with exact dates and times for the Academy in the near future. You can pick up an application at the front counter of each Sheriff Station.
