INCIDENT: In Custody Death Investigation
LOCATION: Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, Colton
DECEDENT: Angela Zuniga, 33 year old resident of San Bernardino
SUMMARY:
On Monday, January 11, 2016, Angela Zuniga, a 33 year old resident of San Bernardino, was remanded into custody at a San Bernardino County Superior Court reference charges of Shooting at an Inhabited Dwelling and being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Zuniga was transported to and booked at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.
On Saturday, February 27, 2016, while at the West Valley Detention Center, Zuniga experienced a medical emergency and at 10:00 p.m. was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. Despite lifesaving measures, Zuniga was pronounced deceased on Sunday, February 28, 2016, at 5:41 a.m.
Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Specialized Investigations Division responded to the location and are currently conducting the investigation. The Riverside County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
