Details: On Sunday, February 28, 2016 at 6:49 PM, Corcoran police officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1900 block of Vandortsen Avenue. The vehicle attempted to evade officers and a pursuit ensued for a few blocks leading southbound on Vandorsten Avenue. The pursuit ended after the driver later identified as Efren Negrete Valencia (age 31) finally pulled over in the 2300 block of Vandortsen Avenue.
Valencia stepped out of his vehicle but was still uncooperative with officers refusing to comply with verbal commands. Valencia physically resisted officers as they attempted to handcuff him. Valencia sustained minor injuries due to the physical scuffle and was later medically treated.
Officers determined that Valencia was showing symptoms of intoxication and was also charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol. Valencia’s license was suspended or revoked due to a prior drunk driving offense.
Valencia showed four prior DUI convictions on his arrest record and had an active traffic warrant out of San Bernardino County. Valencia was later transported and booked at the Kings County Jail in Hanford, CA for charges of evading a police officer, driving while under of alcohol with three prior convictions, resisting / delaying a peace officer, driving with a suspended or revoked driver license and the San Bernardino County traffic warrant. Valencia’s total bail amount was $125,000.00.
