Occupied Residential Burglary Arrest

On February 27, 2016, at approximately 9:37 A.M., the Menlo Park Police Department received a call from a resident reporting a suspicious person on her property located in the 1200 block of Valparaiso Avenue in Menlo Park. The caller reported seeing a subject walk down the side of her residence towards a detached garage, at which time she lost sight of him. Officers from the Menlo Park Police Department as well as the Atherton Police Department responded and arrived in less than one minute. Upon the officers’ arrival, a perimeter was established around the residence. A check of the exterior of the home located a rear door that had been forced open. The occupant of the house was evacuated and additional officers from the Menlo Park Police Department, Atherton Police Department and San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, including their police K-9, responded.

A search of the interior of the home was conducted and a suspect was located hiding inside. The subject was taken into custody with the assistance of the Police K-9. A search of the rest of the home and surrounding area did not locate any other subjects.

In the suspect’s possession at the time of his arrest were narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia. A backpack containing burglary tools and stolen property belonging to the resident was also found nearby.

Jimenez-Pimentel, a 25-year old male from Redwood City was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for Burglary, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Burglary Tools, Possession of Narcotics, Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia, and Resisting Arrest. His involvement into other possible burglaries in the area is currently being investigated.
