February 2nd

Miscellaneous investigation – 2000 block of Mira Vista Ave.
At 1905 hours, officers were dispatched to a missing person. While taking the report, the woman walked home. The woman suffers from Alzheimer’s and got lost on a walk. A neighbor found her and brought her back home. Officers spoke with the family about obtaining full time care in the home.

Recovered stolen vehicle – 800 block of Everett St.
An officer located a 1999 Honda Civic that had been reported stolen to Berkeley PD on 1/31/16.

Possession of a controlled substance – Arlington Blvd. / Dylans Way
An officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested a 37-year-old El Cerrito man for possession of methamphetamine. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

February 3rd

Forgery – 9800 San Pablo Ave.
At 0948 hours, officers were dispatched to Wells Fargo for a forgery in progress. Officers responded and detained a 49-year-old Walnut Creek man. During the investigation, officers discovered the man attempted to cash a stolen forged check. The man was arrested and booked at the El Cerrito Police Department. After booking, the man was released on a citation.

Possession of a Controlled Substance – Carlson Blvd. / San Pablo Ave.
At 1531 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the passenger, a 39-year-old female from Richmond for possession of methamphetamine. The woman was also in possession of a glass smoking pipe. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

Robbery – 11545 San Pablo Ave.
At 1905 hours, officers were dispatched to Staples after a 36-year-old Richmond woman entered the store and loaded her bag with stolen property. When the manager took the woman’s bags to wait for police, the woman attacked the manager. The woman fled the store and was apprehended by police a short distance away. The woman was arrested and booked at the El Cerrito Police Department. Following booking, the woman was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Domestic battery – 300 block of Behrens St.
At 1948 hours, officers responded to a residence after a 29-year-old El Cerrito man struck his wife in the face and chest during a verbal argument. The man fled the residence prior to the arrival of police.

Miscellaneous investigation – 6500 Gladys Ave.
At 2000 hours, a caretaker called to report a missing person after he did not return three hours earlier. While taking the report, the man returned.

Shoplifting, Possession of controlled substance, Possession of paraphernalia, Warrant arrest – 1000 E.C. Plaza.
At 2251 hours, an officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 41-year-old San Francisco man after he stole merchandise from the store. The officers also learned the man had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. During a search incident to arrest, officers located crack cocaine and an injection kit. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

Mental health evaluation – 11565 San Pablo Ave.
At 0119 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and found that a 39-year-old Fremont man was suffering a psychotic break and was unable to care for himself. The man was committed for a 72-hour Psychiatric evaluation and transported to the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center by AMR.

February 4th

Residential Burglary – 200 block of Seaview Dr.
Sometime within the last month, an unknown suspect gained entry to the victim’s house via the garage door and stole property.

Residential Burglary – 1700 Block of Walnut Ave.
At 1405 hours, an officer reported an unknown suspect used an unknown tool to force open a window to the victim’s residence, but was scared off when the alarm activated. No property loss reported.

Warrant arrest – Carlson Blvd. / Adams St.
At 1727 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 40-year-old Richmond man for an outstanding warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant arrest – Kearney St. / Potrero Ave.
At 0150 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the passenger, a 50-year-old Windsor man for an outstanding warrant. The man was issued a citation in the field.

February 5th

Auto Theft - 1300 Richmond Street:
At 0737 hours, an officer responded to the report of the theft of a Honda Civic. The theft occurred overnight in between 2200 and 0730 hours.

Auto Theft Recovery - Cutting Blvd. / San Pablo Ave.
At 1053 hours, an officer located and recovered a stolen 1990 Honda Civic. The vehicle was returned to the owner.

Auto Burglary - Richmond St. / Central Ave:
At 1311 hours, an officer was dispatched to the report of an auto burglary. An unidentified suspect broke a window of a vehicle and stole boots and personal identitying information. The burglary occurred in between 0400 hours -1310 hours.

Warrant Arrest - S. 56th St. / Potrero Ave:
At 1659 hours, an officer contacted a Officer Trac arrested a 27 year old Oakland male on a felony warrant during a suspicious vehicle check. The subject was arrested and booked into the Contra Costa County Detention Facility in Martinez.

Robbery – CVS, 670 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 2119 hours, when the cashier opened the cash register the suspect presented a handgun and demanded money. The suspect removed money from the register and left the business. The suspect was described as a black male, 6-00 to 6-02 with a medium build. He was wearing a black hooded sweater, red safety vest, gray jeans, black shoes with a white sole and a gray beanie.

Shoplift – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Avenue:
At 2249 hours, an officer arrested a 32 year old male after he entered the business, concealed a bottle of alcohol, and then left the store without paying. He was later located at Del Norte BART and identified as the suspect. He was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

Residential Burglary – 5300 Block Poinsett Avenue:
Sometime between 0800 and 2300 hours an unknown suspect entered the victim’s residence by breaking a rear window with a rock and stole cash and jewelry.

Warrant Arrest – Carlson Boulevard/Santa Clara Avenue:
At 0316 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 39 year old male on an outstanding warrant. He was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 11939 San Pablo Avenue:
At 0411 hours, an officer located 1999 Honda Civic which was reported stolen on 2/1/16 to El Cerrito Police.

February 6th

Theft from unlocked vehicles - 500 block of Clayton Ave:
An officer responded to the report of four unlocked vehicles being entered and ransacked by an unidentified suspect. The suspect took loose change. The thefts occurred overnight between 2000 hours and 1000 hours.

Auto Burglary - 7300 block of Donal Ave:
At 1019 hours, an officer responded to the report of an unidentified suspect breaking a car’s window and stealing a Fastrak transponder. The burglary occurred overnight between 2000 hours and 1000 hours.

Shoplifter - 5815 Cutting Blvd (Bay Tackle)
At 1407 hours, officers responded to the report of a subject stealing fish hooks. Customers blocked the suspect’s exit from the store. A 41 year old San Francisco man was placed under citizen’s arrest. He was booked and issued a citation and released.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery – 800 block S. 53rd Street:
At 1927 hours, an officer recovered a 1995 Honda Prelude which was reported stolen to Richmond Police on 2/6/16.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery – Moeser Lane / San Pablo Ave:
At 2106 hours, an officer located a red 2014 Nissan Sentra rental vehicle which was stolen off the lot and reported to Alameda County Sheriff Office on 1/27/16. The 44 year old male driver from Richmond was arrested as well as the 44 year old female passenger from Oakland. Both were booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to county jail.

February 7th

Residential Burglary – 6000 block of El Dorado Ave
Sometime between 1100 hours on February 4th to 1220 hours on February 7th, an unknown suspect removed the lock to the victims storage in their carport garage and stole a 19 inch Magnavox television and a pair of crutches.

Robbery, Possession of a Controlled Substance – Lucky, 1000 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 2040 hours, an officer responded to Lucky and arrested a 25 year old male from Oakland after he entered the store and stole alcohol. The suspect fought with store security in an effort to get away with the alcohol. He also had methamphetamines concealed in his sock. He was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to county jail

DUI, Child Endangerment, Suspended License – Central Ave / San Joaquin St:
At 2111 Hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the 37 year old driver from Berkeley for DUI. His two year old son was also in the car at the time of the arrest and his license was also suspended. He was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and cited.

Possess Controlled Substance, Possess Burglary Tools – Richmond Street / Gladys Avenue:
At 2310, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 36 year old man from Vallejo for possession of burglary tools and a 51 year old female from Hayward for possession of heroin and a hypodermic needle. Both were booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and cited.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Hate Crime – San Pablo Ave / Santa Cruz Ave:
At 0154 hours, ECPD was notified of a victim at Kaiser with a stab wound. It was determined the victim and three suspects became engaged a verbal confrontation and the suspects made several comments about the victim’s sexual orientation. The confrontation then turned physical and Suspect-1 cut or stabbed the victim in the neck. The victim fled to his friend’s vehicle and was transported to Kaiser for treatment.
Suspect-1 was described as a 35-40 years old WMA, brown and brown, 6-02, 190, and wearing a grey hoodie, blue jeans, and black shoes. His hair was curly and combed back. He also had moustache stubble.
Suspect-2 was described as a 35-40 year old WMA, 6-00, 185, and wearing a red and black flannel jacket, dark pants, and carrying a green and silver hiking backpack. His hair was buzzed and he carried a carved wooden walking stick.
Suspect-3 was described as a 35-40 year old WMA, 6-00, 185, and wearing dark clothing.

Public Intoxication – 900 block Liberty Street:
At 0336 hours, Officers responded to an unwanted subject and located a 33 year old male who was heavily intoxicated and pounding on the door hoping to talk about the occupant. He was arrested and transported directly to county jail.

February 11th

Auto Theft/Recovery - 6400 Manila Ave
At 2145 hours, an officer located a Honda Civic vehicle which he believed may have been stolen. During his investigation the officer then learned the owner of the vehicle had called police earlier in the day to report the vehicle was stolen but left for work without first making a report with police. The theft occurred between 1600 and 1630 hours.

Auto Theft Recovery – S.52nd St / Fray Ave
At 2314 hours, an officer located a stolen Acura Integra which had been taken earlier that same day between 0530 and 1555 hours. The owner of the vehicle arrived and scene and took possession of their vehicle.

Residential Burglary – 3400 block of Yosemite Ave
Sometime between 1830 and 2215 hours, an unknown suspect pried open a locked storage locker in a car port area of the apartment complex and removed electronic and music equipment.

February 12th

Shoplifting –11450 San Pablo Ave.
At 1439 hours, an officer responded to the report of a shoplifter in custody at Safeway. A 52 year old San Francisco man was placed under citizen’s arrest by store security after stealing toiletries from the store. He was booked and released on a citation.

Shoplifting –11450 San Pablo Ave.
At 1503 hours, an officer responded to the report of a shoplifter in custody at Safeway. A 51 year old Oakland man was placed under citizen’s arrest by store security after stealing meat products from the store. He was booked and released on a citation.

Possession of Controlled Substance – Central Ave / San Luis St:
At 2108 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 42 year old male from Oakland for possession of methamphetamines. He was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

Possession of Controlled Substance – Carlson Blvd / Tehama Ave:
At 0003 Hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 46 year old male from Richmond for possession of methamphetamines. He was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

DUI – Potrero Ave / I 80:
At 0037 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the 40 year old male driver from Oakley for DUI. He was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

February 13th

Grand Theft – 7000 block of Cutting Blvd.
An officer responded to the report of a private contractor who was paid for services using a fraudulent credit card.

Residential Burglary – 1500 block of Richmond St:
At 1009 hours, an officer responded to the report of a residential burglary. The residence and appurtenant buildings were entered several times over that last two weeks and misc. construction items were stolen.

Battery – Public Fighting Dylans Way:
At 1538 hours, officers responded to the report of a two women fighting. The fight started after a neighbor arrived and began taunting a guest. Both women’s families participated in fighting. None of the parties wanted to place the other under citizen’s arrest.

Stolen Vehicle – 900 block Pomona Ave:
Sometime between 1000 and 1500 hours, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s black 1993 Saab.

Possession of Controlled Substance, Drug Paraphernalia – Carlson Blvd / Van Fleet Ave:
At 2027 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 48 year old male from Richmond for possession of methamphetamines and a glass pipe. He was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

Falser Impersonation, Warrant – 11965 San Pablo Ave:
At 2035 hours, an officer contacted several people for consuming alcohol in front of the old Taco Bell. He was found to be wanted on a felony Contra Costa Warrant. He was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported to county jail.

Stolen and recovered vehicle – Pomona Ave / Waldo Ave:
At 2234 hours, an officer observed a 15 year old male juvenile from Richmond in the driver seat of a green Saab. Aware another Saab was stolen from the same location earlier in the night he investigated. It was determined the juvenile drove the Saab down the block just prior to the officer’s arrival. He was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to his mother.

Public Intoxication, Parole Hold, Warrant – San Pablo Ave / Central Ave:
At 0156 hours, a 25 year old male from San Francisco was arrested for public intoxication and a parole violation. He was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility. His companion, a 28 year old female from Richmond was wanted on a confirmed Santa Clara County warrant. She was released in the field on her signed promise to appear.
