On February 10, 2016, Lomita Station Detectives arrested Daniel Kim, a resident of Harbor City, for armed robbery.  Kim is the main suspect in several armed robberies in the South Bay.   

 

On February 3, 2016, a lone male Asian, armed with a handgun, began a robbery spree in Harbor City.  The robbery locations included a donut shop and a hair salon in Lomita, four convenience stores in Harbor City, a car wash and gas station in Torrance, and a game store in the city of Carson.  In most of these robberies, the suspect approached a lone clerk, displayed a weapon and demanded money.

  

While comparing notes, Lomita Sheriff’s Station, Los Angeles Police Department, Harbor Division and the Torrance Police Department detectives soon realized they were investigating the same person.  Detectives quickly began cultivating leads and identified Kim as a possible suspect.    

 

On February 10, 2016, Lomita Station detectives arrested Kim at the UFC Gym in the city of Torrance without incident.  A firearm was recovered.  Detectives are seeking other possible victims of additional robberies.  Kim is being held in the county jail without bail.  

 

On February 16, 2016, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, Torrance Court, charged Daniel Kim with eight (8) counts of armed robbery along with gun enhancements.
