Modesto, CA- On February 19, 2016 at 10:28 a.m., emergency medical personnel responded to a medical aid call at the Budget Inn located at 581 S. 9th Street in Modesto, CA. Upon arriving they found 58 year-old Barbara Mcclure from Modesto deceased in a motel room.

Detectives responded and began to process the crime scene and interview witnesses. Initially the death was believed to be suspicious, but detectives are now investigating the death of Mcclure as a homicide.

Early this morning deputies received information from Modesto Police Department regarding the homicide investigation at the Budget Inn. Detectives responded and were able to identify 25 year-old Cody Clayton of Modesto as a suspect. Detectives are not releasing what the relationship was between the victim and Clayton, but based on their investigation they were able to identify Clayton as a suspect in the homicide. Clayton was later arrested and booked at the Stanislaus County Jail for murder. Detectives are not releasing any other details regarding the investigation.
