This morning, people walked right in to the Sheriff’s Office grateful to speak with our Detectives. They happily came in to collect their personal property that was stolen recent residential burglaries.
Since August, there have been at least eight known residential burglaries in the Larkfield area of unincorporated Santa Rosa. In some of the cases, the victims were at home asleep when the suspect entered the residence and stole from them. During two of the nighttime burglaries, the victims confronted the suspect and he fled on foot. These crimes all took place in roughly the same neighborhood.
From the evidence, it appeared to Detectives that the crimes were related and was the product of the same burglar. They were able identify 23 year old Zachary Michael Wright of Santa Rosa as the prime suspect.
Yesterday at 10:00 AM, Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Property Crimes Detectives served a search warrant at Wrights’ home on Cambria Way in Larkfield, which is in the neighborhood of the series of burglaries.
There, Detectives located property (iPads, iPhones, lap top computers, Xbox, firearm, alcohol, medications, jewelry and clothing) that had been stolen during burglaries of occupied homes in the area of the Wrights’ residence between August of 2015 and February of 2016.
Wright was arrested for three counts of Residential Burglary, one count of attempted burglary, violation of probation, and possession of stolen property. Due to the seriousness of the crimes – burglarizing an occupied home - PCI Detectives obtained a bail increase. Wright is being held on to $601,000 bail and scheduled to appear in court on February 22 at 1:30.
The PCI Detectives are in the process of identifying the property and the victims to return the items to their rightful owner. If the develop information linking Wright to other crimes, they will ask the District Attorney to file additional charges.
