Quick Hitting Winter Storm

The latest from the National Weather Service:

Weather Summary

A quick hitting winter storm will bring a round of impactful weather tonight.  A line of showers and possible thunderstorms will move across the area this evening during the PM commute.  Expect areas of brief heavy rain and also the possibility of hail here and there.  This activity will then move into the mountains and bring periods of white out conditions with snowfall rates of 1" to 2" per hour likely.  The period of heaviest snow should be in the evening to early Thursday AM, but snow will linger through the day. Storm total snow should be around a foot above 5000 feet and near 2 feet above 6000 feet. Snow levels will drop to as low as 3500 feet this evening with lesser accumulations. It will also be windy, with isolated power outages possible from downed branches or drought weakened trees.

Another weaker weather system will move into the area Friday with most of the rain and snow from this remaining north of the I-80 corridor.  This storm will be weaker with less rain, snow, and wind.
