**Update** #LASD Homicide Dets Continue Investigation Into Fatal Traffic Collision, Citadel Dr./La Puente Rd, Walnut
On Monday, February 15, 2016 at approximately 5:50 a.m., Walnut Station deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call from a home owner in the 20200 block of Barnard Avenue in the city of Walnut. The caller said a vehicle had collided into the brick wall outside his house.
Deputies arrived on-scene and detained a male adult driver. Deputies learned the vehicle, a 1989 Toyota Camry, was being driven eastbound on La Puente Road, west of Citadel Drive when it struck a male adult, who was jogging eastbound in the bike lane, from behind. The vehicle carried the jogger several yards on the hood of the car until it collided with the brick wall of the Barnard Avenue residence.
The jogger was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the jogger is unknown at this time and will not be released pending identification from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner – Coroner.
The driver did not appear to be injured.
The driver is being detained at Walnut Station, pending further investigation.
Homicide detectives have responded to conduct an investigation into the actions of the driver and the cause of the accident.
