Two burglary suspects caught and booked into jail

On February 11, 2016, at approximately 9:39 a.m., the Menlo Park Police Department received a call from an alert resident advising police of two suspicious subjects lurking around in the 100 block of Oak Court in Menlo Park. The resident noticed that the two subjects first knocked on the front door of a neighbor’s house and when nobody answered, the two subjects walked around to the rear of the house and out of view.

Menlo Park Police Officers immediately responded to the area and were on scene in approximately one minute. A perimeter around the general area of the residence was quickly established. Officers located an open back door to the house and an interior search was conducted with negative results. Officers then spotted two subjects hiding in the front yard of a residence in the 1000 block of Woodland Avenue. Both subjects fit the description of what was given by the neighbor.

Both subjects were taken into custody without incident and property was recovered. Further investigation revealed that the two subjects allegedly burglarized the residence on Oak Court. Markeese Crooks, 22 year old male out of Union City, was booked into San Mateo County Jail on residential burglary charges. The second subject, a 17 year old male out of East Palo Alto, was booked into Juvenile Hall.

Police thank the vigilance of the neighbor and ask if anyone else has information regarding this incident to call 650-330-6300.
