Advisory

Blizzard Warning in effect for Vermillion area thru Wednesday AM.

National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning for the area including Vermillion until tomorrow (2/3/16) morning.

From the National Weather Service:

"A dangerous winter storm will bring heavy snow and blizzard conditions to the region Tuesday and Tuesday night. Severe travel impacts can be expected from this storm system into Wednesday morning.

Snow continues to lift northward this morning. Heavy snow will develop and move through the area by mid-day and continue into the afternoon hours. Snowfall rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour may be possible in the heaviest snowfall.

Expect white out conditions to prevail during the afternoon and into the early hours from far eastern Nebraska into southeast South Dakota, western and northern Iowa, and far southwest Minnesota. The winds will subside by Wednesday morning as the weather system quickly spins away from the area.

Motorists traveling through the region Tuesday through Tuesday night should consider alternate plans due to the impending treacherous conditions. Stay tuned to later forecasts and statements for the most up to date information as this winter storm makes its way across the region."
