****UPDATE Arrest Made in Homicide Investigation****
Westley, CA- On January 31, 2016 at approximately 2:00 am patrol deputies responded to a shooting at La Caverna Bar located in the 8800 Block of Highway 33 in Westley, CA. When deputies arrived they found a 45 year-old Jorge Santana of Salinas CA with gunshot wounds to his upper body. Emergency medical personnel responded and Jorge was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives responded and early in the afternoon yesterday they identified 23 year-old Antonio Cruz of Grayson, CA as a suspect. At approximately 5:00 PM detectives and the Sheriff’s STING team apprehended Cruz in the 8800 Block of Wilson Road in Grayson, CA. Cruz was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail for homicide.
Detectives are still trying to determine what led up to the death of Jorge Santana. They know there were witnesses at the bar who left prior to deputies arriving. They are asking witnesses to come forward to help with the investigation.

Emergency medical personnel responded and the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives responded and interviewed witnesses at the bar and processed the crime scene. Detectives believe the suspect fled prior to deputies arriving and do not have suspect information at this time.
