Malverne Police arrest two for Robbery of a Chinese food delivery person on Webster St. on January

The Malverne Police Department reports the arrests of Devon Williams, 20, of 150-12 121st Avenue, Jamaica, Queens and Ramone Bartley, 24, of 11827 Quencer Road, St. Albans, Queens in connection with a Robbery that occurred on Webster St in Malverne on January 19, 2016. In that case a male victim, 36, working for China Dragon Kitchen, drove to a Webster Street address to make a delivery. He was approached by a heavy set male black, 5’ 10” tall when he got out of the car. The suspect hit him in the head with a wooden object before taking his wallet with an undisclosed amount of cash. The victim suffered a head laceration and was transported to an area hospital for treatment to his injuries. An investigation revealed a second suspect, described as male black, 5’ 10” tall with a thin build wearing glasses was also at the scene. Both suspects fled the scene on foot southbound on Cornwell Avenue.
On Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 10:05 pm, A Police Officer Thomas Smith, while on patrol, observed a suspicious vehicle parked on Coolidge Street; an area near the above Robbery and the vehicle being occupied by Williams and Bartley. A subsequent investigation at the scene by Officer Smith and Police Officer Robert Lang ensued during which time a Chinese food delivery person happened upon the block. It was determined that the food order was again deceptively ordered and the defendants were going to once again commit another violent Robbery. Both men were placed under arrest at the scene without further incident.
Williams is charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Robbery 2nd Degree, Attempted Robbery 2nd Degree and Menacing 2nd Degree.
Bartley is charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Robbery 2nd Degree, Attempted Robbery 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree (stolen vehicle license plates) and Criminal Possession of Marihuana 5th Degree (found inside vehicle).
Both defendants will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 01/29/2016.
