One West Bank Robbery Update

On Thursday, January 21st, 2016, at approximately 09:05 am, the Culver City Police Department received a call of a bank robbery with shots fired that occurred at the One West Bank located at 10784 Jefferson Boulevard.

Two suspicious subjects approached the bank wearing gloves, glasses and hats and were confronted by the bank security guard.  One of the suspects pulled a gun and fired at the security guard. Fortunately, no one was injured. The guard quickly retreated into the bank and watched the suspects flee out of the parking lot into an awaiting vehicle.

A short time later, residents reported one of the suspects was seen running through the residential neighborhood near Hannum Avenue and Sawtelle Boulevard. Officers responded to the area and after a brief foot pursuit arrested the suspect without incident.  A short time later, a second suspect was arrested at the TJ Max in the Studio Village shopping center after store employees alerted police.

With help from the Santa Monica and Beverly Hills Police Departments , as well as police helicopters from the Los Angeles Police Department and Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, an extensive neighborhood search for other suspects was conducted.  No additional suspects were found, but the suspect vehicle was located and evidence of the crime was found in the vehicle.

The remaining suspects were quickly identified and apprehended within 24 hours of the crime near their homes in the city of Los Angeles.

Criminal charges were filed with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office against all of the suspects for attempted robbery and attempted murder.
