OSBI Investigation Finds Former Crescent Police Officers Pawned City Firearms

Three former members of the Crescent Police Department including the former police chief have been charged with embezzlement. An OSBI investigation requested by the Logan County Sheriff’s Office found three .45 Glock Model 21 pistols were pawned at Oklahoma City area pawn shops. Those firearms were purchased by the city in 2013 and issued to the officers. After John Alvin Gilbert (10/18/1971) was terminated last October, the city manager called for an audit of weapons at the Crescent Police Department. The audit revealed three missing firearms. Gilbert admitted to pawning one of the guns. Two former Crescent police officers admitted to pawning the other two. Gilbert, David Lee Henderson Jr (d.o.b. 10/29/1971), and Joseph Hardy Hanson (d.o.b. 12/4/1964) each face one felony count of embezzlement. Gilbert and Henderson turned themselves in to the Logan County jail this afternoon. Hanson will turn himself in with his attorney at a later date. Henderson was a reserve officer.
