WINTER STORM UPDATE, SUNDAY, 1/24/16, 2:30pm

Before subsiding about 10PM last night, Winter Storm Jonas pounded Saddle Brook with approximately 20 inches of snow with wind drifts as high as three feet.

Our township DPW worked tirelessly through the storm and did a great job plowing our streets. Please take into consideration that while crews have been working since midnight yesterday, the job isn't done yet. The clean-up and plowing of side streets, municipal parking lots and sidewalks will probably take all of today.

Crews will be returning today to finish plowing and salting side streets. Once plowing is complete, if necessary, we may be removing additional snow from problem intersections by schools, fields, parks, etc.

If you still have to shovel out your property, PLEASE DO NOT throw the snow back into the street. Reminder, in addition to sidewalks, owners are now required to clear snow around fire hydrants in front of their property.

Vehicles that are snowed-in on the roadway MUST be removed immediately, regardless whether already ticketed for failure to remove. These vehicles will be considered abandoned and are subject to being towed from the roadway.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and help dealing with this massive storm. If you don’t need to be on the streets driving, please stay indoors and enjoy watching the football games or your favorite shows. It makes the job of clearing the streets much easier with fewer cars out there.

Those residents that experienced power outages this morning should now be restored or will be shortly. The outages were caused by a transformer malfunction on Saddle River Road near the Garden State Parkway overpass. PSE&G responded promptly and made the necessary repairs.
