This is the Fort Lee Police Department with an important message regarding winter storm Jonas.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for our area through Sunday morning.  Total snowfall is predicted to be between 6 and 10 inches.  This storm may have blizzard conditions with high winds with gusts as high as 45 MPH. 

Prepare for a winter storm now by obtaining the basic items needed, such as a working flashlight with an adequate supply of batteries, food, water and fuel for your car and home.  Charge your portable electronic devices in case of power outages. Minimize travel plans as the roads may be hazardous.

Once the streets become snow covered the Fort Lee Department of Public Works will begin plowing and snow removal operations.  In addition, the Fort Lee Police Department will be enforcing the borough ordinance 388-37 (Schedules 21 and 22) for no parking when road is snow covered.  Please review posted parking signs.  If the street you are parked on is posted as no parking when road snow covered, make arrangements now to park in another location.  Off street parking is available in municipal parking lots.  The Fort Lee Police Department will issue Nixle alerts when enforcement of this ordinance starts and when it is complete.  Vehicles located in violation of this ordinance are subject to a summons and /or tow.

The Fort Lee Fire Department would appreciate everyone’s help in removing snow from around the fire hydrants that are located in front of your house.  Also, do not throw shoveled snow into the street.
